Welcome to the Mary Wakefield Westmorland Festival

Next year's Mary Wakefield Westmorland Music Festival starts on Saturday, 19th March with a concert by the Westmorland Orchestra and finishes on Saturday 26th March with a performance of Paul Spicer's Easter Oratorio, with many exciting events during the week that showcase the wonderful talents we have here in The Lake District. There are instrumental workshops for young people, drumming, African singing, Gospel singing workshops and a celebration of choral singing by our local choirs.  

Other events include a Bring and Sing performance of Mozart's Requiem on Sunday 20th March, two workshops for young people- one for secondary schools pupils with members of the Westmorland Youth Orchestra and the other for primary schools. There is a Gala Youth concert including our own local Young Musicians award (the Jim Noble award) and featuring the Westmorland Youth Orchestra.   The Festival concludes on Wednesday 30th March with the very popular Showcase concert.

There is a comprehensive programme of Adjudicated classes which will take place between Monday 21st and Thursday 24th March.
